Calligraphy ranges from functional inscriptions and designs to fine-art pieces where the letters may or may not be readable.
It continues to flourish in the forms of wedding invitations and event invitations, font design and typography, original
hand-lettered logo design, religious art, announcements, graphic design and commissioned calligraphic art, cut stone inscriptions,
and memorial documents. The principal tools for a calligrapher are the pen and the brush. Calligraphy pens write with nibs that may be
flat, round, or pointed. The beauty behind hand lettering is in the imperfections. Learning how to master flaws and channel them into character
is what makes your brand unique to you. Breaking down these elements will give you a foundation that you can confidently build your craft upon.
There is no easy way to learn calligraphy. It requires consistent practice like every other valuable skill. However,
calligraphy is not nearly as difficult as it first appears. Our beginner course starts with an overview of the supplies
that you will need to get started. Then you'll use our custom practice guides to trace the letter forms with a pencil. From the pencil, you
progress to pointed pen work, tracing letterforms and eventually forming words and positioning those words on the page. You'll learn skills that will help make your portfolio stand out with great pieces of work,
or create artwork you can sell online.
